KAURI PASS TREK
This trekking route is in Chamoli District of Uttrakhand. It is more famous for The view it offers of the great 7000 meters club peaks like Kamet (7756mtrs ), Trishul(7120 mtrs), Chaukhamba (7128 mtrs) and Nanda devi ( 7817 mtrs). . The kauri pass has a magnificent and enchanting view of many other peaks Neelkant, Hathi Ghoda parvat, and Dhronagiri. It is a delight to watch some of the great mountains of the Indian Himalayas on this trek. This route is also trekked in winters.
Day 1. Reach JoshiMath.( 1890 mtrs)
Joshimath is 265 kms from Hardwar. It is the gateway for many expeditions , treks, and Pilgrimages. The road goes through Dev prayag, Rudraprayag, and Karnaprayag. Joshimath has many hotels, lodges, and a GMVN Rest house.
Day 2. Joshimath to Chitrakhana(3300 mtrs) , via Dhak.
There is a road till Dhak village. Dhak is 12 kiolmeters from Joshimath. From Dhak , its time to take the trekking trail towards Chitrakhana, which is appox 6 kms. The valley opens up after some time. Camp overnight at Chitrakhana.. You can view the snow capped mountains from this route , including the 7138 mtrs high Chaukhamba 1.
Day 3. Chitrakhana to Tali top, 6 kms.
The trek starts through green vegetation , and a few trees of Rhododendron and Spruce. After an hours walk you reach a ridge at an elevation of 3500 meters. . Just some distance away is a meadow which serves as a camping ground.
Day 4. Tali to Kauri pass and back, 8 kms one way.
The day , has to began early, as it’s a long trek today. The ascent to Khullar top is gradual. , then traversing though a snow area, we reach Kauri top. The wind is hard here, as it is in all cols. . The view is breath taking. You can see the magnificent Nanda devi (7816 mtrs. ) Nanda devi is the highest peak , totally inside Indian territory. Return to Tali for over night stay.
Day 5. Tali to joshimath via auli
The trail goes through the Famous Gursan Bughyal. It is a moderate descent to Auli. Auli is a famous for its skiing slopes. Then You drive to Joshimath .
Day 6. Joshimath to Haridwar.
